Carol Taylor 2005 MARCH STUDIO EXHIBIT continues
New Paintings and Pottery
Out of chaos, decay, and death, new life is born. In the midst of sorrow one must discover joy in everyday lives. In the early 1970's I painted landscapes, and I have always enjoyed it.( In between I have used clay in sculpture and relief.)
I grew up surrounded by woods and it is a natural consequence of my day to day life to once again paint the natural world. The wild secret places beg to be put down in paint and these small pieces are stylized versions of the larger realistic pieces. I have chosen to place a small tree in each painting.... to represent rebirth. This grows out of the last clay relief work called The Garden Series which featured archways and a small stylized tree.
You are welcome to visit my studio in Rothesay (behind our home) and see a selection of pottery as well as the new acrylic paintings.
